Guyver
F.A.Q.
:
Okay,
all of the answers here are correct to the extent of my knowledge and
the places I list do exist and carry whatever at the time of posting(whether
or not they will forever is questionable). This is here because there
seem to be alot of questions that get asked repeatedly. Now unfortunately
I don't know what or which questions to add here(I've started out with
a few that seem like they'd be helpful), so if you've got a sec and
a question please e-mail me (guyver2@altavista.net).
How
many episodes are in the Anime?
Where can I get the Anime?
I've heard there are more episodes that haven't
been translated are there?
How many versions of Guyver are there?
Where can I get the O.A.V.?
Where can I get the manga?
What happened to the Manga anyway?
Will Viz ever bring back Guyver?
Does the manga continue after where Viz left off
then?
Where can I get the non-translated books?
What are some ways I can contact other Guyver fans?
Q: How many episodes are in the Anime?
A:
12; 6 in act one and 6 in act two. These were originaly released 2eps
per VHS by L.A. Hero but have been reduced to 1ep per in the re-release
by Manga Video. Also keep an eye out for their re-release on DVD.
Q:
Where can I get the Anime?
A: Your best bet is probably to try Manga Video(www.manga.com)
Go to the online store and down to Series, all twelve datas are available
there. Amazon.com(www.amazon.com)
also caries these(and for somewhat cheeper) so you may want to check
there first. Note: They(amazon.com) also carry the live actions
Q:
I've heard there are more episodes that haven't been translated are
there?
A: I'm not sure where this got started but I've heard it on and off
alot. As far as I know there aren't any eps past 12, this rumor might
be related to the fact that the manga continues past it's translation;
that said...
Q:
How many versions of Guyver are there?
A: Well, there's the Anime OVA Series, an seperate OVA(Original Video Animation) Guyver: Out of Control which was a one video animation with a seperate storyline, the
manga, and two live action movies("The Guyver" & "Guyver2: Dark Hero"). Each storyline varies somewhat, the Anime Series and the Manga are pretty close to each other, following the 'Original' plot. Out of Control is sort of AU of these and is the origin for the female Guyver2, and the Live Action movies are off in their own americanized world.
Q:
Where can I get the O.V.A.?
A: This is one of those things that everyone seems to want and no one
can find. The other problem is that some places say they carry it but
don't have it in stock (and many don't plan to restock either). Currently
the only way I know of to get this is by special order, I've found two
places online that have the O.A.V. listed for this: The Place(www.the-place.com)
and Dr. Comics & Mr. Games(www.drcomics.com)
or you can keep an eye out at bioweapons.com,
sometimes EvilFX has one for sale, or someone will post a copy for sale
on the Messageboard or Mailing list.
Q:
Where can I get the manga?
A: this can be(like the O.A.V.) a bit difficult to find since most of
them are no longer being printed(I think..) Amazon.com offers most of
them (all but dark masters and revenge of Chronos at last check), also
Dr. Comics & Mr. Games carries some of them(www.drcomics.com).
Outside of that check with a local bookstore/comic shop and if they don't
have it ask if they can order it.
Q:
What happened to the Manga anyway?
A: Once upon a time it was being translated by Viz Communications, they
found out that it wasn't selling enough copies to make a profit(or at
least a big enough one) and so put it on indefinate hiatus(which translates
to a big fat cancel)
Q:
Will Viz ever bring back Guyver?
A: It's not completely out of the question(of course that doesn't mean
that this is gonna happen anytime soon either), basicialy if Viz feels
there are enough people out there that want to read the comic they'll
start translating again. If you want to help get there attention contact
the bio-weapons petition page(bioweapons.com)
Q:
Does the manga continue after where Viz left off then?
A: Yup, it continues to book 16 thus far.
Q:
Where can I get the non-translated books?
A: For the chinese translations try Chinese online(www.chineseonline.com)
this has through book 15. For the japanese versions check Nikaku online(www.nikaku.com),
be warned however they don't have all of them... or Otaku Publishing
(www.otaku.com) - shipping from here takes forever though *sigh*.
Q:
What are some ways I can contact other Guyver fans?
A: Well, there's the mailing list, guyver chat and messageboard (all
courtesy of bioweapons.com)
so that's probably a good place to start. (note that as of 4/00 I've observed the chat as being down)
