Slowly Jessica regained full awareness, And wished
she hadn’t, A splitting headache threatened to rip her skull into. “ OOOhhhhhh!
What happened?” She tried to move, but found that she was restrained by a metal
restraint across her chest and abdomen. Her legs and arm had healed it seemed,
while she was asleep. “ But I don’t remember deactivating the guyver!” “ Of
course you don’t, You didn’t voluntarily deactivate it. It seems that high
voltage electric stimuli will still force the unit into hibernation.” The voice
was disembodied, powerful and almost too loud. “ Where are you? “ “I am
everywhere. I am the ship you encountered. And you are my prisoner.” “ Yeah
right! GUYVER.....”
She waited for the armor to
come to her, waited for it to surround her and empower her so that the bonds
that held her would snap like thin tissue and she could rip her way out of this
hellhole...... Nothing happened. “ I am afraid that calling your guyver, would
interrupt my experiments, I have activated a static pulse generator that jams
all signals, even telepathic ones. in effect your armor can’t hear you.”
Struck
momentarily speechless she slowly looked around her. She didn’t see XT
anywhere. “ Where are the other guyvers?” “ The other human is in another cell,
but hasn’t woke up yet.” “ And the other?” “ He is an interesting specimen, The
last of his kind if I know my history.” “Who was he?” “ His people were one of
the original races that inhabited the opposite end of the galaxy, He was
exposed to a guyver and became as you have seen him. But something has happened
to his control medal that prevents the retraction of the armor. I must ponder
this occurrence, it has never before been encountered.”
The
restraints holding her to the bed eased and retracted, slowly she sat up. “
Without your guyver you are not a threat to me, the other human is awake and
wishes to speak with you. If you follow the lighted corridor you will come to
his chamber.” Jessica eased her way
into the corridor and followed the pulsing lights down a short way to another
portal that irises open to admit her into a chamber exactly like the one she
had left. Standing in the room was the guyver that had attacked them..
“ I will
enjoy this immensely.”A green bolt of light slammed into her and Jessica again
slipped into the waiting darkness.
Again she
awoke on a bed, but this time there were no restraints. “ Are you still there?”
“Of course.” “ Where is the alien guyver?” Jessica hoped he was still alive. “
He is a very interesting specimen. I think I have devised away to repair his
guyver unit.” Jessica was shocked. “ Why do you want to repair it? You just
said you want us for experiments.” The voice seemed rather excited, “ Because
nothing like this has ever happened before, I need to know if it can be
reversed. For this test I will need a sample of your genetic material.”
Jessica
took a step into the middle of the room. “ And exactly how do you plan to get
it? I guess you just think I will give it over.” The voice was silent. “ Very
well if you insist, I am now removing the atmosphere from this chamber, If you
wish to continue to breath, I suggest you place your arm in the lighted slot.”
Jessica began to feel lightheaded, She had no choice. She staggered over to the
wall where a small portal irised open, and inserted her arm. As she began to
black out, she felt the sting of a needle being inserted and withdrawn from her
arm.
The slot
disgorged her arm and she collapsed gasping as air was returned to the room. “
There you see that wasn’t so hard now was it?” “ If I ever get out of here, I
will rip you apart piece by piece!” Jessica screamed. The voice didn’t respond.
And hour or so later another slot on the wall opened and a tray containing a glass
of amber liquid emerged.
“It is a
nutrient solution. Its flavor has been adjusted to be palatable to human life.
You are required to drink. Or do we need another lesson in obedience?” She took
the glass and threw it against the opposite wall, where it shattered making a
dark stain on the blue wall. “ I must say I am very disappointed.” “ Where is
XT?” The voice chuckled “ Would you like to see him? He is not very comfortable
right now, but I cannot allow a guyver loose onboard.”
After a
short walk she came to a heavy bulkhead that slid into the wall admitting her
to a massive cell with thick walls. Inside slumped against the wall was XT.
Jessica ran over and kneeled next to him. His control medal was barely glowing.
“What’s wrong with him?” “ I am afraid that he was rather aggressive when he
awoke, He did considerable damage, before I was able to erect a energy
dampening field around this room. I will lessen it’s effect now.” Slowly XT’s
Cmedal began to brighten until it was about half of its normal power. “ What
are you doing here? I had hoped you had escaped the blast.” XT’s voice was slow
and full of pain. “ He still doesn’t sound too good, let the field up more.” “
I don’t think so. You see I wouldn’t want him thinking he could struggle. Besides
Its time to run a full scan on him. You will lay down on the scanning pad in
the center of the room.
“Refuse.”
XT although weak was still defiant. “ Very well, I trust you don’t need oxygen,
but can the same be said about the human female?” Slowly the air began growing
thin, and Jessica staggered and fell to the floor. “ I estimated maybe 87
seconds before she is to far gone to recover. I would hurry if you care for her
well-being.” XT staggered to his feet and stumbled onto the disc, before again
collapsing from the energy drain. The air was again returned and Jessica awoke
to find XT lying on the sensor plate, being scanned.
She watched
as a three dimensional hologram formed showing his inner anatomy. “ Interesting, I would assume that
this configuration was developed by the unit itself? I doubt you were
originally like this. I will have to delve deeper into my memory, I think I
should have more information about your species than I have right now. I will
also want a sample of your inner self for study.
A long arm
extended from the ceiling and began to descend towards XT. XT grabbed it and
broke a three foot length off the end of it, throwing it to the ground. “ I see
someone doesn’t realize their position. The field went from half to 3/4
strength, Once more XT was weakened to the point that he could barely move. The
door opened and Zguyver entered the chamber. “I guess I‘m going to get the
sample. He raised his hand and the crystal
on the palm began to glow.”
Jessica
grabbed the severed arm and used it like a spear ramming it into the crystal.
The crystal cracked before the sharp point “ I see you need a lesson as well.”
Zguyver backhanded her across the room, and raising his other hand fired a
laser beam right at her. Jessica closed her eyes waiting for the beam to cut
her in half.
She opened
her eyes to see XT standing in front of her his armor glowing red as he
took the beam full on. His right on was sheared completely off
showing a glowing region under the armor that quickly dimmed as it sealed
itself. Slowly he staggered towards the
guyver. “ I ... will not.....allo...ow ... you ..to harm ..her.” He then
extended a plasma blade and managed to stab it through the guyver’s chest
before Zguyver could dodge, Zguyver blasted him back against the wall where the
added power drain finally overcame him and he collapsed. His armor a smoking
ruin.
“ Amazing,
truly amazing, in the dampening field he is even more susceptible to the laser
than you are. And he still took a full charge and had enough power to attack
before being subdued. What an amazing specimen, I hope you survive for a very
long time.” Zguyver picked up Xt’s arm and stalked out of the chamber holding
his chest where Xt had slashed him. Jessica crawled over to Xt and turned him over, He was once again
unconscious. She had never met someone like him. He had no clue what that blast
could do to him and he still took it for her. Why? Because he could, because
she couldn’t protect herself. And he paid a terrible price for it too. Left on
its own the armor would take several days to fully regenerate the damage, in
this Dampening field it might take weeks. Her own armor couldn’t totally
disperse pain, even on minor injuries. He would be in even more pain for at least
two maybe three days before the armor reconnected his pain centers to proper
functions.
She curled
up next to Xt and slept. She awoke to find Xt trying to sit up. She helped him
back so that he could lean against the wall. < Can you hear me?> Jessica
was startled by the telepathic question. < Yes, I hear you but how can you
communicate through the static field?> < At very close range We can
communicate but only at close range. I have a plan, My shielding can block out
this static interference, If I encase you in my shielding you should be able to
call your unit.> Jessica thought it over. < But in this energy field how
can you use your shields?> < This field dampens my abilities, it take
tremendous power to operate my shielding but I will have enough. I will also
have enough to give you a little bit of an edge.>. He raised his hand and
the plasma sword appeared. < How did you get that, I thought it was
destroyed with the Ninja Armor?>
< It
was not destroyed, Shendel dropped it before she was overcome. I took it after
because it was an interesting weapon, It can be powered by my own energy. I
have fully charged it, When you call your guyver I will give it to you, put it
in hyperspace. When the time comes call it back and activate it with a mental
command.> < Why do I need to activate it, I thought it was always
active.> < In its normal mode yes, but my plasma energy has a side-effect
that effects the sword differently when fully powered.> He sent the sword
back to hyperspace as the portal irised open.
Zguyver
entered the room holding a large object with a pointed end. “ Please return the
Dampening field to full power.” Xt collapsed and Jessica moved in front of him.
“ What are you going to do?” Zguyver just knocked her away. She hit the wall
and slumped to the floor, out cold. Zguyver kneeled by Xt. “ This is a sample
of her DNA that has been encoded with an almost virus like process. It will
slowly create a human form under your armor. Your Control medal healed itself
long ago, but as you have no real form underneath it couldn’t retract. This
will change that. I don’t really care if the armor works properly or not. But
there’s a chance, this could be painful. I like that.” He the stabbed the point
of the device through Xt’s chest plate. Xt grunted at the impact, and could
feel the device force something under his armor, into a region that had long
ago stopped to be filled with a true physical body. His insides grew chillingly
cold and he shivered as it began to take effect. “ It has been altered from
female to male. To coin the phrase, It will make a man out of you.” Laughing he
got to his feet and headed out of the chamber, leaving a girl still out cold
and an alien that wouldn’t be one soon.
Jessica
awoke painfully feeling the bruise that now spread across her cheek. She looked
at Xt. “ Are you alright.” “ Yes, are you ready to proceed. “ I am ready.” Jessica backed away from Xt.
Xt raised his arm and a miniature firestorm of energy began to build. He that
stretched his hand out toward her and a field of dazzling energy formed around
her. “ GUYVER!!! This time the armor responded immediately, it surrounded her
and she felt the surge of energy from the armor. XT tossed the sword to her
before he once again collapsed unconscious.
She walked
over too XT placing her hands on his chest she fixated on regeneration. Her
medal began to flash and his began to respond although very faintly. Slowly his
wounds closed and his armor healed itself. His right arm regrew at a very fast rate. She stood up
looking at the restored although still unconscious Xt.
“ I won’t
let you down.” Jessica whispered as she sent the sword to hyperspace. She then
turned and fired a pressure cannon at the door blasting it outwards. Slowly she
ghosted down the corridors until she came to a thick armor bulkhead. Activating
her swords she quickly carved an opening through the metal and stepped into the
room beyond.
Meanwhile the moon had returned out of hyperspace and was now in earth’s
orbit, Because of it lighter mass, it was slowly catching up the earth and soon
would slam into her. In front of the moon a blast field formed and Warrior and
fighter appeared, a second the rest of the guyvers and Zertax and his Zoagods
also teleported in. “ This might be a problem.” Guyver One Gigantic said in an
awed voice. “ Nope, not with every last one of the most powerful beings on
Earth, here to stop it.” Fighter sounded very cocky. “Alright it will be in
optimum range in ten minutes, then we give it everything we got.” Assasin
looked at the moon warily. “ I just wish we knew where Black and Xt have gone.
I can’t sense them anywhere.
The chamber
housed the very core of the great computer that controlled the ship. Slowly she
looked around and sensed a disruptive energy field coming from a large disc
embedded in the wall. Hoping she was right she fires pressure cannon after
pressure cannon into the disc, first its surface dented then it began to cave
in and finally with a deafening shriek it gave way and the energy field
disappeared.
“ Well I see
you found the control room.” She world to face the Zoalord unit, who’s right
arm snapped up and fired a laser blast at her. She flipped to the side and fire
a pressure cannon at him. He laughed as it fizzled against his shield. “
Haven’t you learned yet that energy attacks don’t work against me.” “ Well if
energy doesn’t work, there are always
sonics!” Black activated her sonic emitters blasting him with high frequency
sound waves. He staggered back under the assault clutching the sides of his
head..
Black then
fired a head laser at him. This time he was too distracted by pain to use his
shield and the shot took him in the gut, not breaking the surface, but knocking
him back against the wall.
“ Very good,
rather impressive. But futile.” Zguyver
stood up and teleported behind her. Her hyper senses detected him and
she had just finished turning around when his fist connected with her temple.
She staggered back under the force of the blow and continued to fall back as he
charged a black hole attack. She leaped to the side as the gravity field tore
an opening in the side of the ship. She opened her megasmashers and fired into
the gravity well, collapsing it.
Outside the ship was nothing but a wall of grey
rock. Zguyver approached Black slowly. “ Do you really think you can win?. I
have already drained your power to the point that you cannot win, why fight it.
Just die peacefully. My unit gives me the ability to charge my powers to
unthought of levels. I have been charging for thirty minutes, And I really hate
to do this, but , well I lied, I am going to enjoy this.” He opened his
megasmashers and charged a blackhole attack.
Black knew
it was her last chance. She called the Plasma sword out of hyperspace and
rushed at Zguyver. He saw her coming and quickly finished the charging process
and unleashed a massive combined megasmasher gravity well attack. Black knew
she couldn’t make it to him. “ I’m sorry Xt. I never had a chance to see what
the activated sword was like.” Even as she thought this the sword began to
vibrate and the blade suddenly was surrounded by a blinding ( even for a
guyver) nimbus of energy. The megasmasher struck the blade of the sword and it
redirected the blast to each side.
“ Ready,
One, two, three, NOW.” All the guyvers
,Zoalords and Zoagods channeled their power into a perfectly timed attack All the megasmashers hit first breaking the
moon’s front half into pieces. The zoalords and Zoagods then combined their
black hole attacks into one huge gravity well that sucked the pieces in and
crushed them to powder. “ And again, One Two Three NOW!.”
Black
leaped forward right into the black hole attack. She thrust the sword through
its center and it collapsed as she drove though it. Slamming the sword into
Zguyver’s gut she ripped his legs nearly completely off. The sword flickered
and died, returning to it’s normal state. Zguyver fell to the ground coughing
up blood adding to what was already on the deck. “ I ...will kill ........you.”
“ Maybe but not in this life.” Black again opened the magasmasher, and was
about to fire when the ship lurched to the side. Half the wall was burned away.
And now the total black of space could be seen. Zguyvers body was sucked into
the void and Black missed as her megasmasher dug into the deck and carved a
tunnel down through the ship.
The moon had
been shattered and was no longer a danger. Be the unexpected presence in the
moon was suprising. The guyvers had exhausted most of thier energy.destroying
the moon. The zoalords were spent. Most of the Zoagods had were also drained.
Of them all only Warrior, Fighter, Zertax, Vulcan, and Gigantic guyver One were
still anywhere close to being able to fight.
“ I am
almost out of energy. I want to send the Gigantic to you, Fighter.” “ Hit me!”
Sho retracted the Gigantic and sent it to Fighter transforming him into
Gigantic Fighter Prime. “ Alright lets see how it holds up to this. GFP opened
his megasmashers and fired a full power blast at the ship. The blast was more
powerful then Warriors. When the dust cleared the ship was still there. A faint
distortion told of a massive shield in place. “ Shit!”
Black saw
the blast hit the shield and began looking for the shield generator. She
entered the next room and was slammed against the wall by an unseen force. “ I
must congratulate you, I never dreamed that you could best Zguyver. I cannot
allow you to stop me though so you will have to die. A beam of energy lashed
out from a large central column biting into her right arm, charring the armor
and forcing her to drop the sword. Then as another beam stabbed towards her
Control Medal A shield surrounded her deflecting the laser. Across the room Xt
stood, Fully healed but frightenly low
on energy.
“ I don’t
think anyone will die but you.” Xt began to open the plasmasmasher and prepared
to vaporize to column. “ Wait, Don’t you want to know what I learned about your
history.” “ What?” Xt hesitated. And then was slammed back into the wall by the
same force that still held Black. “ A trick!” “ Not a trick. I mean to tell
you, but you won’t like it. It will be interesting to see your reaction. Your
world was one of the original inhabited worlds of the galaxy before the
creators came.”
“ The
Creators?” “ Yes, They came for your genetic material. They left in after a few
years and also after you were created. Do you want to know where your planet
is?” “ Where is it?” “ Thats the gag, It was destroyed soon after they left, It
no longer exists.” “ Your lying! My world is...... My world, It can’t be true.”
“ Why would I lie. I must say I expected more from the last of your species
then just denial. The creators destroyed your world and now I will destroy the
earth in the same way.”
“ No, You
will not.” Xt’s voice began to change, growing deeper and full of power. “You will never harm another world
again.” “ And how are you going to stop me. How could you stop me from doing
this.” Another Energy blast flashed out ripping Black in half as electricity
played over her body. “ NO!” Xt seemed
to draw in upon himself, If he had drained his normal power supply he now
tapped into a completely new one. The armor began to glow as red lightning
began to play across the surface. All at once the force holding him seemed to
break and Xt lurched forward to Blacks side. Black was badly hurt and her
control medal was barely glowing.
Still
glowing Xt turned towards the column that housed the intellect of the ship. “ You
are Dead.” Xt growled. The glow around him intensified and the deck under him
began to bubble and blister from the uncontrolled energy. He opened up the
plasmasmasher and surrounded himself and black in a shield. He then rerouted
the plasmasmasher into the sheild. The shield flared white and expanded
outwards Vaporizing the column and most of the rest of the ship. The few pieces
that remained spun off into space.
Xt cradled
Black in his arms and created a portal to his Sanctuary. He laid Blacks broken
body on a stone slab. She was slowly healing, but still unconscious. He then
turned and went down a short flight of stairs. To where a large pool of magma
bubbled. He slowly immersed himself in the lava, and started to recharge his
depleted energy. He also hoped that the heat would warm the shocking area of
frozen cold that had recently begun to grow inside him.
He awoke
sometime later. From the upper chamber he heard soft sounds. He slowly
ascended. Jessica lay curled up on the stone slab. Her armor had returned to
hyperspace it seemed. She shivered, and Xt tested the temperature. It was
decidedly cold for humans.
He raised
his right arm and fired a low gain laser set on wide beam over two support columns.
The stone began to glow and give off heat. He considered taking her back to the
others, but he didn’t think she would survive a portal trip without her guyver.
He thought for a moment before creating a portal to the room he had been in
when he awoke. Approaching the bed he gathered the blankets and pillows into a
bundle and sent them into hyperspace. He returned to find the stone had stopped
glowing and the chill was returning. Lifting her head off the hard stone he
placed the pillow under it and then covered he with the blanket.
He then
heated the rocks one more time before turning to go. He paused, turning back.
He had not felt this way for a long time. He wanted to protect all innocent
life from harm and pain. But with her it was different, He was protective of
her before thought ever took place. He instinctually protected her. He wouldn’t
call it love, not even in his own mind. But it was something, he didn’t know
and possibly would never know if she felt or even could feel anything for him.
“ No, You are a human. You should find happiness with your own kind. My life is
full of painful memories. I would not wish it on anyone else. Especially one I
cared about. He turned again and left. Unseen by him Jessica opened her eyes
and watched him go.
Xt stalked back into the lava pool chamber.
Scanning the walls he found the nearest
unopened chamber next to this one. He powered up his forearm lasers and
blasted a doorway into the next
chamber. These chambers were giant gas pockets created when to earth was
formed. He opened a small portal in the center of the room in space. He then
wedged both sides open. The suction created was more than enough to suck all
the gas into space.
He powered
up a plasmasphere and encased it in a forcefield. He then fed enough energy
into it to make it into a very good light source. He placed it above his right
shoulder and walked to the center of the room. Taking in the perfectly smooth
walls he picked the spot he thought best and began firing his head laser into
the rock on a tight beam setting. The rock melted under the beam and Xt
adjusted the power to finetune the beam. He lost all track of time as he carved
the one image he still remembered.
Jessica slowly sat up and got to her feet. She followed Xt down the steps. She gasped and stepped back as she entered the Lava room. The heat felt uncomfortable. She looked across the chamber and saw rapidly shifting lights flash across the corridor straight across from where she stood. She held her breath and quickly darted across the chamber the heat battering against her protesting skin.
She padded
into the newly opened chamber and found Xt firing his headbeam into the wall.
The light blinded her for a moment, but as she became used to the glare she
began to notice the image that he was crafting. Before her stood a massive
Bas-relief of a planet.
Carved in
stunning detail the rock was shiny from the melting. She stood there gazing in
wonder at it. “ It is the one image of my planet I still remember.” She jumped
before realizing the the light was gone, only a lesser glow from a sphere of
energy above Xt gave any illumination. “ I didn’t mean to intrude.” Xt
dismissed that with a wave of his hand. “ You are not intruding. I hoped that
you would awaken soon. How do you feel?. Jessica stepped closer to him. “ I
want to thank you for what you did. If you hadn’t been there I wouldn’t have
survived or had any hope of escape. I should ask you how you feel.”
“ I am well.
I took no lasting harm from the ordeal. And you do wonderful healing.” Xt decided
not to tell her about the injection or the numbing sense of cold that now
dominated his chest.. “ Do you feel well enough to return to the surface.?” “
Yes, Everyone is probably worried about us by now.” Xt was very thoughtful for
a moment. He still did not fit in. He doubted anyone would truly care where he
was, unless it was from a truly defensive point of view. But Jessica seemed to
think they would care. He would wait and see.
He led her
to a vertical shaft over three miles high at the top sunlight and blue sky
could be seen. “ I can carry you if you cannot call your guyver to ascend.”
Jessica concentrated for a moment before screaming “ GUYVER!” Her armor
surrounded her and she leaped straight up. Her voice floating back “ Race Ya!”
Xt smiled at this and activating his portal stepped through it to the white
sanded beach overlooking the tunnel. He sat on a stone and waited. A moment
later Black floated into view, her arms crossed. “ Thats no fair, cheater.” Xt
couldn’t help but laugh. She floated to the ground and joined him.
They
stepped out of the portal into the domain. They approached the council room and
Xt gestured to Black to stop. < I wish to see their reaction if I show up
alone. Don’t come in until I tell you.> Leaving Black in the hallway he
entered the chamber and immediately was blasted back through the doorway by a
pressure cannon and made a crater in the wall.. “ Where is Jessica you son of a
bitch.” Fighter appeared and lunged for Xt. Xt didn’t move, didn’t defend
himself. He cast a holographic cloak over Black.
< I wish
to see how far he will go. I am in no danger from him.” Fighter slammed his
forward sword into Xt’s shoulder. Xt didn’t even flinch. “ What have you done
with Black Guyver!” Assasin appeared in the doorway. “ Fighter let him go, we
don’t know that he’s done anything.” Dark guyver comes out. “ I agree with
fighter, we know nothing about him. He has her somewhere, its all that’s
possible. Who else could contain a guyver and keep her hidden then another
guyver and an alien at that.” Fighter smiled under his armor. “ Now I want some
answers alien scum.” he twisted the blade.
Xt said nothing. He simply phased into the wall to appear again in the
corridor next to Black, still under the cloak.
Wordlessly he removed the cloak. Black shimmered
into view. He then turned and walked away. “ How could you?” Black was
incensed. She turned and ran after Xt. Assasin turned to Fighter. “ Next time,
Don’t act as insane as Warrior. Listen to reason!” She then turned and headed
down the corridor after Black.
Xt was
preparing to take to the air when Black caught up to him. “ Wait, Don’t go.” Xt
paused and turned towards her. “ I have always been a stranger in a strange
land, it comes from being the only one of your kind on the planet. I wanted to
know how the impulsive guyvers would react. Knowing this I can see what will
happen whenever I fall under suspicion. Knowing this I can keep from being put
in a position that I cannot escape, without giving a part of myself away. Hold
nothing against them, I don’t. And it is cheering to me to know that you are
missed and they will search for you, violently if necessary. I have much to
think about, I will return.
Xt then floated
into the air as Jessica deactivated her armor. He turned and flew away. Ira
walked out of the doorway. “ What was that about?” Jessica turned towards her.
“ He wanted to know how he was viewed in our eyes. If he was accepted or not. I
don’t know what fighter thought he was doing. But Xt feels like an outcast. He
just learned he has no home to return to. He is the last of his kind.”
Jessica ran
back down the corridor, tears coming to her eyes as she entered her room. Ira
walked back to the council chamber. Jarrod was sitting at the table with the
others and Ira walked back to her seat. “ Well at least we know I can hurt
him.” He mumbled. Ira rounded on him. “ It was a test you ego-crazed maniac.”
She screamed. “ I don’t think you could have scratched him if he had really
been fighting. He wanted to know if we accepted him or if we distrusted him.
And you just gave him every reason to distrust us!”
Jarrod
looked at her with first suprise and then sullenly turned back to his own
thoughts. Ira turned to the others, gazing at them with cold eyes. “ Jessica
just told me. Xt has been informed that his homeworld no longer exists. He is
the last of his people. He came hear to see if he could make this planet his
home. I would hope he could be shown a little respect and a little less blind
hatred and unbased fear.” Ira then stalked out of the room and went to
Jessica’s room.
Knocking
softly she opened the door to find Jessica laying on her bed her eyes still
read from crying. She sat down on the bed and Jessica sat up to hug her. “ How
